Our fondest memories of boarding at Tahoe come from this mid-sized resort about half way down the lake on the shore edge. I wouldn't go so far as to say this is the "best" resort in Tahoe, but it's certainly a dream for those who like a bit of off-piste action or need to improve their technique in the terrain park.<
Having made many visits here, we were fortunate to experience it post-blizzard which setup the day voted best of the 01/02 season. There was a complete whiteout and we were in powder-tree heaven! Of particular note is the excellent off-piste area called 'Hobbit Land' which is home to some dreamy undulating terrain and a great challenge to get down it in a single run at breakneck speed in deep powder. Love it!
We should mention the great Tahoe views that you get from Homewood also. Being so close to the shoreline, you get a widescreen blue vista horizon on many of the runs down.
On the flip side, Homewood does have some sticking points. The lifts are a bit old and slow and the runs are not very long so skiiers will be difficult to please here. But other than that, it's boarding paradise.
