We flew to Cyprus in the heat of summer for a week with our good friends Rob and Helen. In fact this holiday was the start of many co-adventures with the McKenzies.
To say it was hot would be an understatement. Cyprus was scorchio! By day, the heat was ferocious and clouds were rare if not totally absent. At night, it didn't cool down much either. Plus WE got the room with the duff air con unit. Great! We laughed at how chance had played a hand on the room allocation and it could as easily have been Rob and Helen's assigned room, to which Rob openly admits he would have gone mad and been up on the roof trying to fix it himself!
Anyway, much fun was had scuba diving, hiring a 4x4 and heading up into the slightly cooler Troodos Mountains, a visit to the Kykkos Monastery and the Akamas Peninsula.
Evening entertainment was incredibly dull in the hotel itself. It was advertised as 'Live Music' but this consisted each night of one man playing 'plinky plonk' tunes on an electric keyboard (see video 2 for how bad it was). Paphos town was much more lively and we enjoyed very much watching a local whom we nicknamed 'Wolfy' due to his similarity with a character from the UK challenge show 'Gladiators'. A great time and some fond memories. Enjoy Rob's home movie below which sums it all up.
